Family Therapy

Resolve conflict, improve communication, and break unhealthy cycles within your family.

Family Dynamics

Our family relationships are often the most defining, complex, and emotionally charged connections in our lives. When communication breaks down or deep-seated conflicts arise, it can affect every aspect of your well-being.

Whether you are struggling to connect with an adult child, navigating the stresses of co-parenting after a divorce, dealing with codependency, or trying to break unhealthy intergenerational patterns, family therapy offers a structured and safe environment to rebuild connection and mutual understanding.

Conflict & Parenting

I guide adults and families facing a wide spectrum of relational problems and parenting challenges. Through exploration of your background, current challenges, and aspirations, we delve into personal history and significant life events to uncover the root causes of the friction.

Common areas of focus include:

  • Parenting Challenges: Developing united, effective strategies for raising children and managing behavioral issues.
  • Communication Breakdowns: Learning to listen actively and express needs without blame or defensiveness.
  • Boundary Setting: Establishing and maintaining healthy emotional and physical boundaries to prevent codependency and resentment.
  • Blended Families: Navigating the unique logistical and emotional hurdles of bringing two families together.

Parents and Families

I work with parents who are struggling with parenting challenges, communication with their children, family dynamics, or the changes that come with different stages of their children’s development. They often want to better understand their children, strengthen their relationships, and feel more confident in their parenting.

Sometimes, understanding the psychosocial stages of life, whether their own or those of their children or spouse/partner, can help people better understand the challenges they are facing. By educating themselves and gaining a deeper understanding of these developmental stages and relationships, they can develop greater insight and find more effective ways to navigate their challenges.

At times, people may need guidance, education, or consultation, whether it is understanding their children’s developmental stages, navigating transitions in their own lives, managing expectations, or coping with difficult circumstances. I am there to provide that support and perspective when needed.

What I Often Hear

Clients often share concerns related to childhood trauma, their relationships with their parents, or the impact of their parents’ relationship with each other. I also frequently work with individuals and families navigating divorce, as well as college students experiencing depression and anxiety. Parenting concerns are another common area of focus.

A client may say, “I’m struggling to understand how my childhood is affecting my relationships now,” “My parents’ divorce has been really difficult for me,” “I feel overwhelmed and anxious at school,” or “I’m having a hard time knowing how to parent differently from how I was raised.” These are the kinds of concerns that make me think, “Yes, I work with this all the time.”
